System Medical Director for Critical Care Medicine, and Emory Department of Pediatrics - Critical Care Division Chief

Atlanta, GA - Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s) and Emory University School of Medicine (Emory) seek a transformational, visionary, and collaborative pediatric critical care leader with a strong clinical and academic foundation to serve as the System Medical Director for Critical Care Medicine, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Critical Care Division Chief, Emory Department of Pediatrics. This is an exciting leadership position to join a national leading critical care division at a pediatric delivery system poised for significant growth.

Children’s is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the country serving more than one million patients annually. With a focus on the community and commitment to leading-edge healthcare, Children’s formed an integral partnership with Emory, a recognized private institution dedicated to academic excellence and fostering scholars. In 2020, Emory Department of Pediatrics garnered nearly $100 million in extramural funding with over $80 million from the NIH ranking them #1 in the nation. Over the next several years, Children’s will execute a service expansion plan throughout the Atlanta metro area to provide greater access to the patients of the region.

Children’s and Emory are recognized as national leaders in pediatric critical care medicine. The incumbent critical care medicine leader will have the opportunity to drive a vision and to shape the growth of a pediatric critical care program across two hospitals and the opening of the new state-of-the-art Arthur M. Blank Hospital. The hospital is anticipated to open in 2025, will have 446 beds and a full-service facility for pediatric inpatient medical care. This exciting prospect provides a leader a once in a career opportunity to lead the transition into a new facility.

The successful candidate will be a strong clinician and academic leader with demonstrated ability to set a vision, position the team to execute, effectively inspire, manage and mentor others. This is an outstanding position for an experienced physician leader to live and work in a desirable, advanced healthcare market, develop trainees in a complex care environment and lead a nationally recognized pediatric critical care medicine division into the future.
