PROFESSOR AND MARTIN BARKIN CHAIR OF UROLOGY, DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY, UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO


The Department of Surgery, University of Toronto is inviting applications for the position of Professor and Martin Barkin Chair of Urology. This position is for a five-year term, renewable for a second term after review.


The effective date of this appointment is tentatively aiming for July 1, 2022.

The Martin Barkin Chair of Urology is responsible of the academic activities and residency training in the Division and plays a coordinating role for activities that traverse our fully and partially affiliated teaching sites. The Division of Urology has 33 full-time faculty members, 30 part-time/adjunct faculty members, 26 residents and 33 fellows.


The successful candidate should ideally possess prior leadership skills in hospital-based, University, or organized urology programs and should have an established record of scholarly achievement and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The preferred hospital site for the Chair’s clinical activities is to be negotiated with the successful candidate, should they be an external candidate. Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Evidence of excellence in teaching, research, and administration is required.

Salary will be between the range of $500,000 - 800,0000 as well as commensurate with qualifications and experience. This estimate is based on fee for service billings, hospital- and university-based support.
