Shared Health Manitoba and the Department of Internal Medicine, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba invite applications for a physician in the Section of Neurology, with expertise in Stroke management. 

The successful candidate will be a Neurologist with subspecialty training and expertise in the investigation and management of patients with acute stroke as well as expertise in stroke prevention. The position will also have, within the University of Manitoba’s Section of Neurology, an academic appointment, with responsibilities of teaching and mentoring. The academic rank is dependent on the candidate’s current academic experience. The section is one of 17 in the Department of Internal Medicine and has substantial resources within the health system, primarily at two academic health centres and one community-based hospital. The 28 faculty members form a section that includes a highly productive and internationally renowned Multiple Sclerosis research group and a strong residency training program. 

A new 28-bed acute stroke unit has been announced and tendered, to be opened in late 2021, and urgent recruitment of neurologists will be required. 

Candidates must have senior specialty qualifications in Neurology in the country of current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of

Canada is preferred. Preference given to those demonstrating strong neurological research or academic interests.
