The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is seeking Open Rank, Open Track Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Faculty members to join our growing program!

The successful candidate will join UNM Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation faculty in providing patient care in inpatient rehabilitation hospital, outpatient, and acute hospital settings. New hires will be instrumental in the development and growth of clinical programs at UNM and Lovelace-UNM Rehabilitation Hospital. Faculty will teach PM&R residents, medical students, fellows, and learners from many other programs. This is an exciting opportunity to develop clinical and academic programs in a new department.

UNM Hospital is a 556-bed, Level 1 trauma center that serves New Mexico, West Texas, Southern Colorado, and Eastern Arizona. With a very large catchment area with a population of over 800,000, the area has an extraordinary need for PM&R services.

Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital is a 62-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital. It is CARF-accredited in inpatient rehabilitation, inpatient brain injury, inpatient and outpatient spinal cord system of care, inpatient stroke, outpatient adult, and outpatient pediatric rehabilitation. It is the primary location for the PM&R residency program, in partnership with the Albuquerque VA and UNM Hospital.

Minimum requirements: MD, DO, or equivalent degree; Board certified or board eligible in PM&R, must be eligible for licensure in the State of New Mexico and must be eligible to work in the United States.

We are presently seeking:

  1. General physiatrists with interest in developing consultation services
  2. Fellowship-trained physiatrists in Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, and Sports Medicine
  3. Physiatrists with strong interest and experience in electrodiagnostics

Preferred Requirements: Experience in obtaining and managing research grants, publication in peer reviewed journals during the past two years, and academic teaching experience.
