Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) is the U. S. Navy's oldest, continuously-operating hospital established in 1830. It serves past and present military members and their families. This fleet medical center and its nine branch clinics located throughout the Hampton Roads area offer research and teaching programs designed to prepare new doctors, nurses and hospital corpsmen for future roles in healing and wellness. What you will do!

  • Serve as Physician OB/GYN in the Surgical Services Directorate, Women’s Health Care Clinic of Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
  •  Provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for OB/GYN patients including those of an unusually complex and difficult nature.
  •  Participate fully in resident education and supervision including development of office practice, surgical and professional development.
  •  Collaboratively support care of our advanced practice nurses (CNM and NP).
  •  Support other departmental educational activities for medical students, CNM students, and NP students

Accredited MD/DO/ECFMG or Fifth Pathway certification.

Active physician license awarded by any state.

5 years of residency training or equivalent experience and training in Obstetrics/Gynecology (e.g., 3 years Obstetrics/Gynecology residency and 2 years fellowship, experience or other training). This includes, but is not limited to, the following: providing a full range of medical care to include those of difficult nature; performing OB/GYN surgical procedures; guiding and directing the resident physicians, advanced practice nurses and/or nurses.

Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certification
