The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston has a position open for the July 1st 2020 clinical fellowship in Magnetoencephalography and Surgical Epilepsy. The fellowship position is for one year and begins July 1st. Applicants must have completed a residency program in neurology or child neurology accredited in the United States or Canada. Foreign medical graduates, who are ECFMG certified are welcomed to apply. U.S. citizenship or J1-Visa.

The Clinical MEG/Surgical Epilepsy Fellow Program, which is the only one of this kind in the USA, is a non-standard ACGME accredited one year training program involving in-depth hands-on data analysis, interpretation and application of advanced diagnostic techniques, with a focus on magnetoencephalography (MEG), electrocorticography (ECoG), intracranial EEG (including both subdural grids and stereo EEG), and cortical mapping. This program is one of only a few such formalized one-year training programs in the U.S. or Canada. Ideally this person would be a 2nd year fellow who has already completed epilepsy fellowship training.

  • State of the art MEG system with movement compensation etc.
  • Exposure to both pediatric and adult epilepsy.
  • Adult and pediatric epilepsy surgery programs with high volumes of intra-cranial EEG cases including robotic SEEG and MR guided laser ablation therapy.
  • Collegial academic atmosphere with research opportunities in MEG and epilepsy.
  • Great mentorship with frequent and close interactions with the attending staff.
