We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and engaging leader to join us in these efforts and serve as the Division Chief of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to lead a robust Regional and Acute Pain program that is actively involved in all facets of our tripartite mission. The division chief will have a clear vision for advancing the subspecialty, experience collaborating with anesthesiologists and other colleagues, and demonstrated leadership skills in academic medicine.


Division Chief Role

The division chief will be an accomplished, academic anesthesiologist responsible for actualizing our tripartite mission—clinical care, education, and research. These responsibilities include:

Leading regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine clinical operations to ensure consistently high quality patient care with efficient and innovative utilization of clinical and material resources

Promoting effective collaborations among divisional faculty and other clinical and research scientists across campus

Facilitating medical education in regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine

Recruiting new faculty to the division and supporting their career development

Leading innovative scholarship in regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine


Scope

Responsibility for acute pain and regional anesthesiology at 5 hospitals and 1 Ambulatory Surgery Center within the Johns Hopkin Health System

Oversight for 20 Faculty and 2 Advanced Practitioners

Oversight for ACGME accredited Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship

Opportunity to lead novel programs such as our first of its kind, perioperative pain clinic to address aspects of pain management and opioid utilization for surgical patients

Participation in Integration Efforts such as Health System Opioid Stewardship Program

Responsible for the development and implementation of new care pathways including ERAS protocols

Qualified candidates must show successful completion of an approved residency program in anesthesiology. Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree and be eligible for licensure in Maryland. Candidates must be board-certified in anesthesiology.
