Position description

The Department of Medicine at McGill University invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor as a member of the Contract Academic Staff (Clinical). The professorial rank will be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The incumbent will also be the Director of the Division of Cardiology of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). This position does not confer eligibility for tenure.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be a transformational leader who, as Director of the Division of Cardiology, will draw on strong interpersonal skills to inspire best practices and innovation. The preferred candidate will also bring a track-record of success in academic leadership with the ability to foster excellence in teaching, patient care, and research within the Division. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the clinical and educational missions of the Division and Department, promote independent and collaborative research and fulfill administrative responsibilities at the institutional, university, regional and provincial levels, where appropriate. 

The candidate is also expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (teaching and supervision of clinical trainees and graduate students, research, and involvement in academic and administrative committees) and will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in these activities. 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Candidates must hold an MD degree and have completed subspecialty training in Cardiology, be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent); and be eligible for licensure by the Collège des médecins du Québec. 

Candidates should have strong leadership qualities and a proven academic track-record in medical scholarship or in academic basic and/or clinical research. They must have experience in clinical service and training of students, residents, and fellows. 

All candidates must be fluent in English with a working knowledge of French.
