The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Virginia is seeking to hire two Board-Eligible or Certified Orthopaedic surgeons, one fellowship-trained in Hip and Knee Joint Replacement and one fellowship trained in Orthopaedic Trauma, to start August 2020. Qualified applicants must have demonstrated clinical expertise and have demonstrated the ability to perform quality basic scientific or clinical research. Candidates must have a MD or DO, and be board-eligible or board-certified. A fellowship in the sub-specialty is expected as well as evidence of academic productivity. Salary and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications. The positions will remain open until filled.

The Adult Reconstruction Division currently has three surgeons and three physician assistants to manage the patient population. Training and exposure in the broad range of surgical techniques is preferable, particularly as it relates to primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, trauma, infection, and rapid recovery surgical protocols. The candidate will also be expected to help develop the outpatient joint replacement program at the new musculoskeletal center which is currently under construction.

The Orthopaedic Trauma Division currently has two surgeons and two physician assistants to manage the patient population. The successful applicant will take Orthopaedic trauma call, manage complex pelvis and acetabulum fractures, lower extremity trauma, and multi-trauma patients, and will be an integral part of the orthopaedic trauma team based at a busy Level I trauma center.

The selected candidates will join a group of 28 orthopaedic faculty who share emergency call coverage and assist in initial management of emergent musculoskeletal conditions. The candidates will have the opportunity to see patients in several outpatient clinic sites, and will perform surgery in both the in-patient and the out-patient areas of the UVA Health System.
