Chair, Division of Acute Care and Regional General Surgery - Associate or Full Professor or Associate or Full Professor (CHS)

The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health seeks a dynamic and innovative Surgeon to lead a new Division of Acute Care and Regional General Surgery. This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished and visionary leader to transition an existing group of general and acute care surgeons within the Division of General Surgery into a distinct division with direct reporting to the Department Chair.

The selected Division Chair will execute a vision and strategy for a coordinated, cohesive, and high quality service spanning trauma, critical care, burn/wound, emergency surgery, and broad-based adult general surgery within an academic health system consisting of three hospitals in Madison and two hospitals in Rockford, Illinois. The Chair will be responsible for developing effective relationships with system and local clinical and administrative leaders to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Division. The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service.

The Department of Surgery consists of more than 120 faculty across seven specialty divisions (Cardiothoracic, General, Otolaryngology, Pediatric, Plastic and Reconstructive, Transplant, and Vascular) performing more than 25,000 operations annually. Operative services are provided at seven locations in Madison and four locations in Rockford, IL. The Department also trains more than 70 residents and fellows and is consistently ranked amongst the top surgery programs with extramural research funding.

The University of Wisconsin is a world-renowned institution that provides an unmatched academic foundation for research, education, and service.
